Russia dominated the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) World Muaythai Championships in Thailand with 70 gold medals out of a possible 151 and a 79 per cent win ratio.

The hosts followed behind with 19 gold medals, while Belarus' seven golds saw them finish third in the overall medal table.

In today's action, Russian athletes scooped nine gold medals in the last day in Bangkok.

Ivan Petrenko won his fourth consecutive bout in the Nimibutr Arena to stand atop the podium in the men's over-91-kilograms division.

He narrowly defeated Patrick Lisiecki of France 29-28 in a nail-biting bout.

Lisiecki lost the first two rounds 10-9 but took the final round, however it was too little too late as he was unable to close the gap.

Petrenko's compatriot Gadzhi Medzhidov took the spoils in the men's 86kg with a routine 30-27 victory against Anatolii Sukhanov.

Despite a close scoreline, Medzhidov won all three rounds.

Chaiongchai Minindi took a gold medal for the host nation, Thailand, in the men's 51kg final with a 30-27 win against Turkey's Sesh Samil Omer Calhan.

There was even more glory for Russia in the women's events as Tatiana Petrova downed Ukrainian Anastasiaa Kulinich 30-27 in the women's 48kg class.

Russia's Olga Pavlova was awarded victory in the women's 75kg gold-medal match after the referee stopped her fight with Mikaela Kolliopoulou.

The Greek had suffered a head injury forcing the bout to a halt with Pavlova leading 20-18.

Svetlana Vinnikova added to Russia's dominance, beating Belarusian Darya Bialkova 30-27 in the women's 63.5kg contest.

The United Arab Emirates are due to host the IFMA World Muaythai Championships next year.
