Finland's pair are through to the playoffs at curling's Olympic Qualification Event in Dutch city Leeuwarden.

The Finns, siblings Oona Kauste and Aku Kauste, defeated Japan 9-8 in their final Group B game to finish third in the table, with four wins and two losses.

Finland scored the decisive point in the last end.

They had trailed 5-0 and 7-2 at various junctures, but fought back to win the winner-takes-all affair.

The United States beat South Korea to top Group B, and are now just one win away from a place at Beijing 2022.

Australia were already guaranteed to advance from Group A and remained undefeated today, beating Hungary 7-6 and Spain 9-6.

The Hungarians bounced back, overcoming Denmark 8-3, and that win sent them through to the playoffs.

A Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) pair defeated Germany and Turkey to finish with four wins - the same total as Hungary - and also go through.

The ROC team beat Hungary earlier in the tournament, so came in second and will play Finland for a place in the winner-takes-all second round of the playoffs.

South Korea await Hungary.

The winners of those matches face the US or Australia.

The playoffs will be played tomorrow, with two Beijing 2022 places on offer.
