China's Xu Mengtao moved to the top of the all-time list as she claimed her 26th Freestyle Skiing World Cup win with victory in the aerials event in Ruka.

The Sochi 2014 Olympic silver medallist, who missed the entirety of last season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, topped the podium on a total of 99.49 points.

The triumph for the Chinese skier saw her mark her return to the circuit in style with less than two months before the opening of her home Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

Xu led a Chinese one-two as compatriot Kong Fanyu, the Pyeongchang 2018 bronze medallist, scored 95.52 to take second place.

Hanna Huskova of Belarus was third after her routine was rewarded with 94.60 points.

Russian Maxim Burov continued his strong start to the season as he recorded his second consecutive aerials victory.

Burov, who won five of the seven aerials World Cup events held last year, scored 123.08 points to finish ahead of China's Jia Zongyang.

Jia claimed silver on 122.57 points, while bronze went to Switzerland's Noé Roth on 121.27.

Attention turns to moguls events when the Freestyle World Cup in the Finnish resort resumes tomorrow.
