Petra Vlhová was too fast for the field once again as the reigning Alpine Ski World Cup champion earned a record-breaking fifth victory in Levi.

Just as she was yesterday at the Finish venue, Vlhová was the quickest on both slalom runs, and today's podium mirrored yesterday's too.

American Mikaela Shiffrin was second and Lena Dürr of Germany third, for just her second career World Cup podium.

Vlhová stopped the clock at 52.14sec on run one, giving her an advantage of 0.18 over Shiffrin.

The Slovakian's second run was 53.08, good enough to earn the win by a whopping 0.47.

Dürr was 0.78 back in third.

Swiss pair Wendy Holdener and Michelle Gisin completed the top five in that order.

Shiffrin, who has won 45 slalom World Cup legs - one shy of Swedish icon Ingemar Stenmark's all-time single-discipline record of 46 giant slalom wins - looked like Vlhová's only real rival, but lost vital time on the second run when an error saw her skis collide.

It was a testament to Shiffrin's supreme skill that she recovered to produce a time of 53.37 - sixth-fastest on run two and good enough to remain second.

Vlhová's victory is her fifth in Levi - a new record outright, lifting her one clear of Shiffrin.

The pair are now tied for the overall World Cup lead this season on 260 points.

The women's circuit now heads to Killington in Vermont for its first US stop in almost two years.

A giant slalom race is scheduled on Saturday (November 27), followed by slalom the next day.
