Peder Fredricson of Sweden is looking to cap off a stellar season with victory at the Global Champions Tour (GCT) Super Grand Prix in Prague.

The event will feature the 15 winners of each individual GCT Grand Prix from the 2021 season, or runners-up if the winner was already qualified for these playoffs.

Fredricson has been superb this season, winning the 2021 GCT Championship in style and claiming the majority of the prize money with a total of more than €700,000 (£588,996/$792,711).

A bumper prize pool of €1.25 million (£1.05 million/$1.4 million) will be available at the individual event in the Czech capital.

On top of that, Fredricson won a team jumping gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics along with Malin Baryard-Johnsson and Henrik von Eckermann, and the individual silver medal.

Von Eckermann and Baryard-Johnsson will also both be in action at the GCT Super Grand Prix.

The 2019 sell-out event saw Ben Maher lift the Super Grand Prix trophy with his horse Explosion W.

The pair won Olympic gold earlier this year and will be back again to try and defend their title, but with such a strong field there is no guarantee.

Maher is the pick of four British riders who are set to compete in Prague, which is more than any other country.

The 38-year-old won the fourth event of the season in the Dutch town of Valkenswaard.

Maher also won gold in Paris, meaning his compatriot Sameh El Dahan was awarded a place at the season-ending event.

London 2012 gold medallist Scott Brash will also be participating after claiming silver at the Madrid event in May.

Veteran athlete John Whitaker finished second in London in August behind Fredricson which proved to be enough for him to secure his place.

The 66-year-old has enjoyed a successful career spanning four decades which has seen him compete in five Olympic Games between 1984 and 2016, winning silver at Los Angeles 1984.

While the event formally begins tomorrow, the Super Grand Prix will be contested over two rounds on Saturday (November 20).
