Germany's Stephanie Schneider claimed a convincing victory as the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Women's Monobob World Series continued in Lillehammer.

Schneider, a former European two-woman champion who was part of the German squad that earned the world mixed team title in 2011, completed her two runs in a combined 1min 51.15sec.

The 31-year-old five-time World Championships medallist was 0.53sec ahead of Karlien Sleper of The Netherlands in second.

Slovakia's Viktoria Cernanska did enough for third after finishing in 1:51.97.

The event featured a largely-European field after the season's opener in Whistler last week was mainly attended by North American racers.

This season's series takes on added importance as women's monobob is due to make its Olympic debut at Beijing 2022.

There are 20 quota places available at the Games, with the IBSF Women's Bobsleigh Combined Ranking List used to determine which athletes will qualify.

The top four National Olympic Committees in the rankings will be given two berths, the next six one berth and the top six individual athletes remaining will round out the 20 spots.

The rankings will take into account all monobob and two-woman bobsleigh World Series events up to January 16.
