Peder Fredricson won the Global Champions Tour (GCT) title after finishing tenth in the Grand Prix of Slovakia, the season’s finale in Šamorín.

The Swedish rider knew a top ten finish would guarantee him the individual crown as he started the final round of the season with a 21 point advantage over Britain’s Ben Maher.

Fredricson, riding H&M All In placed tenth in a time of 67.68sec, with his closest rival in the championship Maher finishing 17th in 67.27 onboard Explosion W.

The final round of individual competition went to a five-way jump-off, after five riders enjoyed clear rounds.

Three riders were also clear in the jump-off, with times deciding the podium places.

Topping the podium was Henrik Von Eckermann of Sweden with King Edward in 37.22, with second place going to Marlon Modolo Zanotelli of Brazil onboard Like A Diamond Van Het Schaeck, in 37.47.

Third place went to Germany’s Maurice Tebbel onboard Don Diarado, with the clear round meaning he secured the final podium place despite his time of 39.61 being slower than the fourth and fifth placed finishers.

Fourth went to Pieter Devos of Belgium onboard Mom’s Toupie De La Roque in 39.14 with four faults, with Harrie Smolders of the Netherlands, riding Monaco, fifth in 39.37 with eight faults.

In the team competition, the Global Champions League (GCL), which also concluded today in Šamorín, Valkenswaard United came into the final round knowing a top three finish would secure the title.

Valkenswaard’s line-up of Fredricson, riding both H&M All In and Catch Me Not S and Edwina Tops-Alexander of Australia, riding Fellow Castlefield placed third overall with a team time of 1min 42.10sec.

The third placed finish ensured they became the most successful team in the GCL’s five-year history, as they won their second title.

Shanghai Swans placed fourth in the final round to finish second overall, with their team of Germany’s Christian Ahlmann, riding Dominator 2000 Z and Malin Baryard-Johnsson of Sweden onboard H&M Indiana finishing in 1:44.57.

Paris Panthers finished third overall in the team competition, with London Knights in fourth, meaning they will join the Swans and Valkenswaard in being fast-tracked to the GCL Super Cup, held as part of the Prague Playoffs, scheduled from November 18 to 21 in the Czech Republic.

Separately from the team championship battle, Scandinavian Vikings won the final round, with their team of Frank Schuttert of The Netherlands, riding Lyonel D and Kinky Boy Van Het Gildenhof, Von Eckermann on King Edward and Swiss rider Evelina Tovek of Winnetou De La Hamente Z finishing in 1:38.95.
