The International Cycling Union (UCI) Women's WorldTour season will conclude with Ronde van Drenthe, with the one-day race scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The race was initially due to be the second of the campaign on March 18, but organisers were forced to postpone the event because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in The Netherlands.

Annemiek van Vleuten currently leads the season standings, but the Dutch Olympic time trial champion will not feature in the final race after fracturing her pelvis in two places at the first edition of the women's Paris-Roubaix.

Her Movistar team and FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope have both withdrawn from the race entirely.

The race will see the peloton tackle a 140 kilometre route from Assen to Hoogeveen, which includes four ascents of the steep VAM-Berg climb.

The race has, however, proved fertile ground for sprinters in recent years with The Netherlands' Amy Pieters and Belgium's Jolien D’Hoore among previous winners.

The duo will take to the start line tomorrow, with fellow sprinters Chloe Hosking of Australia and Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes other potential contenders for victory.

Wiebes heads into the race fresh from winning two stages and the points classification at the Women's Tour in Britain.

Defending champion Marta Bastianelli of Italy will miss the race.

Bastianelli triumphed in 2019, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of the classic last year.
