World Para Dance Sport has asked National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) to nominate candidates to be the athlete representative on its Sports Technical Committee (STC).

Serving a two-year term until 2023, they will act as a liaison between athletes and the Sports Technical Committee, as well as a direct link to the International Paralympic Committee Athletes' Council.

The successful candidate will replace Belgium's Sofie Cox, who is the outgoing athlete representative.

A vote is to take place at the World Para Dance Sports Championships in Ulsan in South Korea from November 26 to 28.

"As athletes, we experience championships or a competition in a totally different way than a judge or the ones who organise it," Cox said following her election in 2017.

"So, I think it is very important to have a voice as athletes in things that they discuss and the choices they make."

World Para Dance Sport outlined that strong leadership qualities, communication skills and respect were key personality traits athletes interested needed to hold.

The elected representative is expected to devote time to attending relevant activities, including participating in discussions on athlete-related issues, attending or hostings meetings at major competitions, and consult with other sportspeople to create the best form of representation.

NPC Presidents and secretary generals will be sent instructions for nominations by World Para Dance Sport, with the deadline for submissions being October 20.
