Water_polo_womenNovember 22 - A strength and conditioning assistant coach is now boosting the GB senior women's water polo team thanks to funding from the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).

The appointment of David Boycott Brown will be a significant help to the squad - currently playing in the Hungarian league - in their preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Based at Manchester University, Boycott Brown honed his skills at St Marys University College, Twickenham.

Joanna Wray, water polo World Class Programme manager and Team GB team leader for London 2012, said: "Water polo's collaboration with TASS has been a great asset to the women's squad.

"Working with TASS colleagues and Manchester University has enabled us to develop a new and unique post to support our players.

"We are looking forward to David joining us and we hope the experience he has built up with TASS will help our players to reach their potential."

The TASS Enhancement Fund has also enabled a new post to be created for a coaching intern at Loughborough University, who will support university swimmers and TASS athletes as well as underpin the work of the World Class Team based there.

Both new posts are jointly funded and supported by TASS, British Swimming and the host university.

TASS works with British Swimming across all its disciplines, supporting a number of athletes in their continued development towards world and Olympic success.

Athletes who have benefited from TASS support in the past include Rebecca Adlington and Tom Daley.
