The 30-year-old Surbiton player, part of the England team that won a silver medal at Glasgow 2014 and bronze at Gold Coast 2018, was speaking while attending the "I Am Team GB Festival of Sport" at the London Stadium in England, an event which offered free sporting activities to get people active alongside the country's Olympians.

"It will be great," said Pearne-Webb. 

"Obviously, we go as home nations to the Commonwealth Games, so we’ll miss some players from our squad, but I’m just really looking forward to a home Games where fans can be there. 

"I can’t wait, the Commonwealth Games are always incredible anyway, but I think next year will be really exciting.

"I’ll spend a bit more time relaxing, but I’ll be working as well.

"Then we get back into training, and then next year we have both the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games."

Pearne-Webb, who has 199 international caps, was part of Great Britain's squad that won the Olympic gold medal at Rio 2016 and bronze at Tokyo 2020. 

The "I Am Team GB Festival of Sport" started with a lap of honour around the London Stadium within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, followed by activities delivered from the main stage by local clubs, national governing bodies and other activity providers.

"I love the fact that at ‘I Am Team GB’s’ ‘Festival of Sport’, you are mixing with youngsters and seeing them inspired to try out new sports," Pearne-Webb added.

"I played loads of sports growing up and took loads from that, so I suppose I just want to be amongst people and inspiring the next generation. 

"I think there is that phrase ‘if you can’t see it, you can’t be it’ so interacting with people and showing them it is possible is massive."
