Mali are the first African team to reach the last four of the Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Hungary following a stunning 69-47 win against Russia.

Double-doubles from Sika Kone and Maimouna Haidara powered Mali to a convincing victory in Debrecen.

Kone scored a game-high 21 points and had 11 rebounds, while Haidara scored 15 points and corralled 10 rebounds.

Mali will play Australia in the semi-finals, after a spirited comeback saw them knock out Canada.

The Australians trailed 43-49 after three quarters, but unleased a 29-point fourth quarter to win 72-61.

Nyadiew Puoch led the way with 25 points.

The United States have won eight of the last 10 editions of the tournament and are into the last four via a 98-64 win over Spain.

Host Hungary await, after they beat the Czechs 78-71.

Eszter Madar's double-double - 17 points, 11 rebounds - led the Hungarian effort, while Julia Boros scored 23 points.

The semi-finals will be played tomorrow at the Oláh Gábor Sports Hall.
