Germany won both the men's and women's under-18 Fistball World Championships in Grieskirchen today, capping a perfect weekend for the country.

The Germans faced Austria, the host nation, in both finals.

In the men's final, Germany raced into a two-set lead but were then forced to fend off an Austrian comeback as the match went to a fifth set.

The Germans did that though, eventually winning 11-8, 13-11, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9.

As a mark of how tight the final was, both teams won 50 points.

Brazil staged a brilliant comeback to win the third-place playoff 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-9.

Austria took the lead in the women's final, but could not hold on as Germany reeled off three straight sets to win 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 13-11.

Brazil beat Switzerland 9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8 to earn third place.

Germany won both under-18 world titles, the Women’s Fistball World Championship and the men's under-21 European crown in Grieskirchen this weekend.
