The USA Luge Slider Search has added three more stops in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Utah during the autumn months, as the recruitment event attempts to attract young people to the sport.

The initiative is the governing body's off-season recruitment tour.

It offers young athletes the chance to become members of the USA Luge Junior Development Team when the circuit continues in September and October.

The tour will see USA Luge head to Medway in Massachusetts from September 11 to 12, followed by Malvern in Pennsylvania on September 25 to 26, with the last stop in Utah's Salt Lake City from October 2 to 3.

Earlier stops took place in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio.

These free clinics are for boys and girls between nine and 13 years of age.

Participants will start learning the basics of controlling the sleigh.

Once they master the ability to manoeuvre in both directions, they will then slide from the USA Luge ramp onto the road surface to negotiate a cone course.

The event will give young athletes an opportunity to learn luge and qualify to join the USA Luge Junior Development team, all while under the guidance of national team coaches.

Children selected from the USA Luge Slider Search will be invited to learn the sport on ice next winter in Lake Placid in New York on the same track where national team athletes train and compete each season.

Over 250,000 youngsters have been introduced to luge in this program since its inception over 35 years ago.

Luge is set to feature at its 15th Winter Olympic Games at Beijing 2022 at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track.

A total of four events, men's singles, women's singles, doubles and team relay, will be contested between February 4 and 20.
