The Organising Committee of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games has vowed to ensure many of the sports venues for the 2022 Asian Games are available for public use following the conclusion of the event.

Venues at the flagship Hangzhou Olympic Sports Complex and neighbouring International Expo Center are both likely to designated for public use post-Games, according to Hangzhou 2022 deputy secretary general Chen Weiqiang.

Chen made the comments following a meeting with city officials about the Games.

It was added that an Asian Games Museum and a youth activity centre will be established at the Olympic Sports Complex, which is headlined by an 80,000-capacity "Big Lotus" stadium.

Recently given final approval, it is due to host athletics as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Later this year, Hangzhou 2022 will organise test events for athletics, basketball, sailing, open water swimming, road cycling, shooting, rugby, table tennis, judo and taekwondo, it said.

Hangzhou 2022 has also stated more than 109,000 people, including 329 foreigners, have applied to become volunteers at the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

A total of 50,000 volunteers will be recruited.
