Santiago 2023 seeking bids for host broadcaster

Santiago 2023 is seeking tenders for the awarding of the host broadcaster for the next Pan American and Parapan American Games.

The call is now going out to audio-visual companies, national or international, with proven experience in producing important television events.

The company awarded the task will work on logistics, production and technical plans, as well as additional requirements.

Organisers of the Games are seeking technological innovation and new ways to carry out the production process.

Interested parties have been invited to explore the Organising Committee's online bidding portal for further information.

Santiago 2023 will be the seventh edition of the Parapan American Games and 19th edition of the Pan American Games.

Neither have been staged in Chile before.

The Chilean capital was the sole bidder after Buenos Aires pulled out.

When British skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won the Olympic gold medal in ice dance at Sarajevo 1984 with 12 perfect 6.0s from every judge, for their interpretation of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, an important member of their team was singer-actor Michael Crawford. Crawford, who had played Frank Spencer in British sitcom Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and the title role in the musical The Phantom of the Opera, had become a mentor to the pair in 1981 and went on to help them create their Olympic routine. Crawford said he “taught them how to act". He was present with their trainer Betty Callaway at the ringside at Sarajevo as they created one of the most iconic moments in Olympic history.
