Mustapha Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), has chaired an African athletes' online forum at the Tunisian National Olympic Committee (CNOT) headquarters during an exchange and coordination visit to Tunis.

He was welcomed by CNOT President Mehrez Boussayene before the forum attended by International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission chair Kirsty Coventry, ANOCA Athletes' Commission chairman Amadou Dia Ba and numerous African athletes.

These athletes included the President and vice-president chairman of the CNOT Athletes' Committee Heykel Megannem and Ibtissem Trimeche.

In his opening address, Berraf stressed the role of African athletes in developing sport and Olympism on the continent and around the world.

He revealed he was grateful for the sacrifices made in the COVID-19 pandemic and asked athletes to remain vigilant, strong and supportive as the rearranged 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo approach.

The forum exchanged the playbooks of athletes which contain all the measures organised by the IOC.

After the forum, Berraf went to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Professional Integration for a working session with its Minister, Sihem Ayedi.

The meeting focused on the sporting and Olympic Movement in Africa and Tunisia's final preparations for Tokyo 2020, as well as the second edition of the African Beach Games, which Tunis is scheduled to host in 2023.

Berraf was recently re-elected as President of ANOCA in May after defeating challenger Burundi's Lydia Nsekera by 38 to 15 votes.

He resigned as President of the Algerian Olympic Committee in May 2020 after claiming he was "tired" of the "repeated attacks" against him and his family.

This followed allegations of corruption which he denied.
