The All-England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has confirmed show courts at Wimbledon will have full capacity from the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Organised said the decision followed the successful staging of the first week of the event in accordance with the United Kingdom Government's Events Research Programme.

Centre Court and Court One operated at 50 per cent capacity during the first week.

The capacity increased to 75 per cent as the second week of competition began today.

The AELTC said consultation with the Events Research Programme and the local authorities in Merton led to the approval of full capacity for the show courts.

This will represent the first full outdoor stadiums at a sporting event in the UK since the pandemic began.

Centre Court has a capacity of 14,979, while Court One can welcome 12,345 spectators.

Organisers say the capacity across the rest of the grounds will be reduced according to the number of courts in play.

Ticket-holders are required to show proof of their COVID-19-status on arrival.

They must either be fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test.

Spectators can also be admitted should they have natural immunity through a recent infection.

Spectators are also requested to observe the guidance around wearing face coverings on the move and support the additional mitigation measures in place.
