Harry Kane opened the scoring for England within four minutes at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome - stabbing home following a delicious through ball from Raheem Sterling - and the Three Lions never looked back.

Harry Maguire doubled the scoring within a minute of the restart, heading Luke Shaw's inviting free-kick into the net, and Kane got his second shortly afterwards, nodding home another Shaw cross.

Substitute Jordan Henderson scored another header, from a corner, to complete the rout.

This was Ukraine's first appearance in the quarter-finals of the European Championship; hit by injuries and having played extra time in the last 16, this match against a well-oiled English side was a bridge too far.

England are yet to concede a goal at Euro 2020 and were able to rest several key players for much of the second half.

They will return to London to face Denmark on the home turf of Wembley Stadium on Wednesday (July 7), with a place in the final at stake.

Denmark, who many have remarked appear inspired following the disturbing scenes in their opening game of the tournament, when star man Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch, scored two first-half goals to get past the Czechs.

Thomas Delaney was presented with a free header at a corner and buried the chance, before Kasper Dolberg scored a second from close range on the stroke of the interval.

Dolberg's goal was all about the cross, however - a sublime, outside-of-the-boot delivery from Joakim Maehle which could just have easily been converted by Martin Braithwaite.

Golden Boot-chasing Patrik Schick scored his fifth goal of the tournament in the second half to give the Czech Republic hope, but a Danish third looked more likely than an equaliser, and it finished 2-1.

England have never won this tournament before, or even reached the final, but Denmark were champions in 1992.

Spain and Italy will clash in the other semi-final, also at Wembley, on Tuesday (July 6).
