Italy won the gold-medal match in the trap mixed team event in a hugely competitive contest on the last day of competition at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup at Osijek in Croatia.

The Italian pairing of Jessica Rossi, the London 2012 women’s trap gold medallist and five times a world champion, and 40-year-old world silver medallist Mauro De Filippis earned a 40-39 victory over Russia.

Alexey Alpov, the 45-year-old Athens 2004 champion and a Beijing 2008 bronze medallist, and Daria Semianova, comprised the Russian team.

De Filippis has enjoyed an excellent World Cup as he earlier won the men's trap event, while Rossi was second in the women's contest.
