Kesley appointed as new President of Royal Caledonian Curling Club

Susan Kesley has been appointed as the new President of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC) - which trades under the Scottish Curling banner - at the organisation's Annual General Meeting (AGM), held virtually over Zoom.

She was elected alongside Mike Ferguson, who is the new vice-president of the RCCC.

Kesley's election makes her the first female President of the RCCC after over 180 years of history.

Former international curler Logan Gray and three-time world medallist Mairi Milne were elected as directors on the Board too.

Broughty Ferry, Earlston, Laurencekirk, St Ronan's and Tulliallan Curling Clubs were awarded 150-year club medals, having been admitted as members of the organisation in 1871.

Outgoing President Andrew Kerr gave his annual report with chief executive Bruce Crawford; while chair of the Board Graham Lindsay took members through the business of the AGM and the results of the online and postal voting.

Subscriptions for the 2022-2023 season were approved, meaning full members must now pay £25 ($34.58/€29.09) and full junior members must pay £10 ($13.83/€11.63) annually.

The next AGM is scheduled to take place on August 20 2022, with a venue yet to be confirmed.

RCCC is regarded as the mother club of curling, with the sport being founded in Scotland and the governing body being founded in 1838.

It has approximately 12,000 members in around 600 clubs around Scotland.
