Potential COVID-19 measures for the new International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) season were among the main topics during its online meeting with race organisers from 15 sliding tracks.

Among the 43 participants who attended the online meeting, held to reflect on the last campaign and look forward to the 2021-2022 season, were representatives from the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and its Organising Committee.

COVID-19 preventative measures such as testing and wearing face masks are set to remain, but a final decision is expected to be taken in September.

The IBSF also said it hopes spectators can come back to the events even with restrictions.

IBSF secretary general Heike Größwang emphasised the excellent cooperation of all track management teams despite the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Only with this determination we were able to host all kinds of competition," said Größwang.

Speaking about media data, the IBSF presented a 51 per cent increase in new followers across its social media platforms YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Ahead of Beijing 2022, the IBSF has launched Chinese social media accounts on Weibo, WeChat and Toutiao.
