Uruguay eased to a 2-0 win over Bolivia to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa América in Brazil.

Jairo Quinteros' own goal and a strike from Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani 11 minutes from time were enough for Uruguay to confirm their spot in the last eight.

The win for Uruguay at Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá moved them up to third in Group A behind Paraguay, Chile and Argentina.

Paraguay beat Chile 2-0 in the other match in the group at Estádio Nacional de Brasília Mané Garrincha, a result that also eliminated Bolivia from the tournament.

Uruguay, needing a win to be sure of a quarter-final berth, struggled to break down a resilient Bolivian defence until Quinteros turned Giorgian de Arrascaeta's cross into his own net after 40 minutes.

They made sure of their first victory of the competition through Cavani, who doubled Uruguay's advantage from close range.

Paraguay are up to second in the group after Braian Samudio and Miguel Almirón gave them all three points in their clash with Chile.

Samudio headed home after 33 minutes before Almirón converted a second-half penalty after Gary Medel had been fouled in the area.

Uruguay and Paraguay will meet on Monday (June 28) in a match which will decide who plays hosts and pre-tournament favourites Brazil in the last eight.
