The Commonwealth Games Association of Gibraltar (GCGA) believes it will be "well prepared" for Birmingham 2022 next year.

Events in athletics and cycling have already been held, which saw athletes try to meet minimum consideration standards in order to be in contention for the Gibraltar team.

Mountain bike, swimming and triathlon are also about to submit their proposals for their minimum standards.

"The Games seem to have come around quickly this time," said Harry Murphy, the President of GCGA.

"But we're confident that Team Gibraltar will be well prepared in a year's time."

Gibraltar is also making preparations for the visit of the Queen's Baton Relay, which is due in the territory next year before the start of Birmingham 2022 on July 28.

No athlete from Gibraltar has won a medal at the Commonwealth Games.

A team of 22 competed last time out at Gold Coast 2018.
