The United States are one win away from the Olympic baseball tournament after they beat Canada 10-1 to stay perfect at the Americas qualifier in Florida.

The Dominican Republic beat Venezuela 14-4 in the other match to keep their hopes of winning the tournament alive.

Playing in their first game of the super round, the Americans and Canadians were level at 1-1 after four innings, before Luke Williams' go-ahead home run in the fifth gave the host nation the advantage in West Palm Beach.

Eddy Alvarez - a Winter Olympic medallist - tripled in the next inning to drive home another run, before a seven-run eighth inning for the US put the game beyond doubt.

Williams ended with three runs batted in (RBIs) as the US, who with 10 hits only had two more than their opponents, took their scoring opportunities.

In the other game, the Dominican Republic, who carried a loss into the super round, showcased their offensive power in blowing Venezuela away.

Julio Rodriguez, Juan Francisco and ex-Toronto Blue Jays star Jose Bautista all finished with three RBIs.

The Dominicans were 5-0 ahead after three innings and 7-0 up after six, thanks to a two-run homer from Bautista.

They head into tomorrow's final game against Canada knowing a victory will at a minimum see them qualify for the last-chance, four-team, global qualifier in Mexico later this month, but could also be enough to win the tournament and a Tokyo 2020 berth, depending on other results.

Venezuela's outlook for their match-up with the US is similar, while the Americans know a win will see them advance to the Olympics.

Canada must beat the Dominican Republic to keep their chances of advancing to the global qualifier alive.

The final games will be played in Port St. Lucie tomorrow.
