Gavin Noble has been appointed as Ireland's Chef de Mission for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a report has said.

The Fermanagh Herald said the 40-year-old triathlete has been selected to lead the country's team in the French capital in three years' time.

Noble is currently serving as Ireland's deputy Chef de Mission for this year's rearranged Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with Tricia Heberle in the top job.

He previously worked as a high-performance consultant with HupHup Performance and as head of digital content and social with Wilson Hartnell.

"It's a huge honour to be asked to lead in Paris and naturally it was a proud moment," Noble, who is from Enniskillen, told the Fermanagh Herald.

At the London 2012 Olympics, Noble competed for Ireland and finished 23rd in the men's triathlon.

He also raced for Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and 2006.
