Defending champions Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov, Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov, and Bakhodur Usmonov are all through to respective semi-finals at the Asian Boxing Championships in Dubai.

Uzbekistan's Mirzakhmedov, in the under-49-kilogram men's light-flyweight division, outclassed Iran's Mousa Jaffar Hashim, winning on all five of the judges' scorecards.

Next up for Mirzakhmedov is Mongolia's Orkhontungalag Unubold, who beat the top seed in perhaps the day's biggest upset.

Unubold edged a tight decision against Turmenistan's Mirlan Turkbai Uulu 3-2, with all of the judges separating the fighters by just one point.

Up at bantamweight, under-56kg, Uzbekistan's Mirzakhalilov began his title defence with a 4-1 points victory against India's Mohammed Hussamuddin.

The division's second seed, Kharkhuugiin Enkh-Amar, was also a 4-1 victor against Afghanistan's Hasibullah Malikzadah.

Tajikistan's light-welterweight champion Usmonov was beating Filipino John Paul Panuayan when the referee stopped the under-64kg bout.

Both Mirzakhalilov - who has also won Asian Games and world titles - and Usmonov have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

All three of the Indian women in action today won, while Kazakhstan's Rima Volossenko sprung a lightweight shock.

Volossenko beat Mongolia's Namuun Monkhor in an under-60kg fight which went to the wire, and two judges scored a draw.

Two had Monkhor winning on points and one Volossenko, but both judges who scored the bout 28-28 put Volossenko as their preferred winner, giving the Kazakhstani fighter the win and a bronze medal at a minimum.

Sakshi Choudhary, Jaismine and Tokyo-bound Simranjit Kaur Baatth were the victorious Indian fighters, each securing a medal.

The Asian Boxing Confederation's flagship tournament continues in the United Arab Emirates tomorrow.

It was moved from India at late notice because of the coronavirus crisis.
