More than 29 per cent of World Taekwondo members do not have any certified Para taekwondo coaches, making them ineligible to enter athletes in official competitions.

Those figures come from World Taekwondo's Para Taekwondo Committee chair Chakir Chelbat, who has urged coaches and classifiers to take formal classes.

A Level I Para Taekwondo International Coach Certification Course has been completed by 306 coaches from 149 countries.

The Level II Para Taekwondo International Coach Certification Course has been completed by 154 coaches from 84 nations.

Sixty-one World Taekwondo members do not have any certified Para taekwondo coaches.

Chelbat told the taekwondo community: "Let's get on it!"

A Level I course is being run online in English from April 20 to 22, and a Level II course is also available online and in English from April 27 to 29.

There are currently 52 classifiers from 30 countries who have achieved World Taekwondo's Classifier Training Level I.

Taekwondo is due to make its Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020 later this year.
