UEFA has moved its 2020-2021 Futsal Champions League Finals from Zagreb to Zadar following a request from Croatian authorities.

The event had been due to take place at Arena Zagreb after being stripped from Minsk.

UEFA has said the competition will now be held at Krešimir Ćosić Arena on the same dates of April 28 to May 3.

"The change of venue arrived after the request of Croatian national health authorities to use the Arena Zagreb, which was originally planned to host the event," UEFA said.

Minsk had been scheduled to hold the Futsal Champions League Finals before UEFA removed the hosting rights from the Belarusian capital due to COVID-19 concerns.

The decision saved European football's governing body from criticism for staging a showpiece event in a country where numerous abuses of human rights - including the unlawful detention of athletes peacefully protesting against the regime - are alleged to have taken place.

Belarus has been stripped of several major events in recent months following the disputed re-election of Alexander Lukashenko as President last August and the harsh crackdown on anti-Government protests which have followed.

Both the International Ice Hockey Federation and International Modern Pentathlon Union have moved their 2021 World Championships away from the country.
