International Boxing Association (AIBA) President Umar Kremlev spoke of his determination to support Asia’s National Federations "in all their needs" ahead of the continent’s upcoming Virtual Forum.

Ongoing reforms and a development plan for members of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ABC) are set to be discussed at the continental forum, scheduled to be held virtually on Monday (March 15).

Kremlev said an AIBA development team would "intensively work" with the ABC to support each national body.

Asian boxers have won 112 medals at the Olympic Games along with a combined total of 269 achieved at the men’s and women’s World Championships, including 73 golds, 83 silvers and 113 bronzes.

"First steps in Asia’s modern boxing began more than 125 years ago in Japan," said Kremlev.

"Until the present Asian boxers have been played a significant role in boxing history and bagged many medals in big championships all around the globe.

"The intention of AIBA leadership is to support NFs in all their needs, helping them to popularise our sport in their countries.

"We created the detailed development plan for NFs of the Asian continent which consists of the improvement of several directions.

"AIBA development team will intensively work with the Confederation to support each National Federation."

Six members of the AIBA Board of directors are from Asia, including one-time Presidential candidates Anas Al Otaiba of the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan's Suleyman Mikayilov.
