The University Sport Center of Turin has organised a virtual edition of the "Just The Woman I Am" event to mark International Women's Day tomorrow.

The event began today and will run until March 14.

In order to participate, people are encouraged to complete a 5 kilometres walk or run anywhere around the world during the eligible dates.

Donations start from €20 (£17/$24) and include an event t-shirt, a welcome bag, the race bib and shipment costs.

Once a participant has signed up for the event, their location will be added with a marker onto a map on the official website.

Each participant is also encouraged to share their experience on social media.

"With this virtual edition we want to engage as many people as possible all around Italy," said a spokesperson for the University Sport Center of Turin.

"Women, men, children, adults, all those who do sport regularly and those who do not, Italians and foreigners, all are invited.

"It will be a great and original sport experience but also a way to support university research."

The "Just The Woman I Am" event has been running for several years and aims to promote gender equality, sport and the culture of wellbeing and inclusion.
