USA Bobsled and Skeleton (USABS) has announced it has agreed partnerships with Mananalu and Advanced Exoskeletal Systems.

The USABS hope the partnership Mananalu will helpto reduce single-use plastic, with the water company using aluminum cans which are recyclable.

The company say that nine per cent of all plastic ever produced has been recycled.

By offering water in an aluminium can, it is claimed each can stands for one less plastic bottle polluting our oceans around the world.

The canned water company was founded by actor Jason Momoa, who is best known for his role as Aquaman.

“We thank the USABS for standing for a better future by committing to help reduce single-use plastic,” said David Cuthbert, managing director at Mananalu.

"We are excited to keep the team hydrated while they chase gold.

"Mananalu is proud to partner with the US Bobsled and Skeleton teams.

"The teamwork they demonstrate in their pursuit of excellence is an inspiration to us all."

Mananalu announced it will provide financial support to the team in addition to products for USABS athletes, with the company shipping water to bobsled and skeleton athletes competing in Europe.

Support will also be provided to athletes racing in international and national competitions.

The partnership is due to run until June 2022.

"Mananalu's commitment to our team is crystal clear," said Michelle Knous, USABS director of partner and sponsorship development.

"Not only are they providing a valuable and essential product to our athletes, but they understand the financial needs of our athletes.

"We hope that others will be inspired by USABS’ commitment and will choose aluminium over plastic."

A separate partnership has also been confirmed with Advanced Exoskeletal Systems (Aexos), which is scheduled to last through 2022.

Aexos is a design and technology company that focuses on the importance of protecting and stabilising the neck, and minimising damage to the joint.

Advancements in material and science, coupled with research and innovation, allow for protection of the neck without inhibiting range of motion.

USABS athletes were provided with Halo shirts by Aexos last season.

"Both bobsled and skeleton athletes face the risk of whiplash and concussive injuries, and we are always searching for products and technology that can improve the safety of our athletes," said Andrew Ernst, USABS high performance health care services provider.

"Aexos is a welcome addition.

"The Halo shirt is lightweight and non-restrictive, which is perfect for bobsled and skeleton.

"We look forward to expanding the partnership with Aexos and building our relationship, including research on how forces impact athletes’ bodies, to objectively measuring the benefits Halo has to offer while sliding."
