The Tanzania Baseball and Softball Association (TaBSA) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dar Es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) which will see baseball for the blind introduced at the college.
Ahmed Makata, President of the TaBSA, and DUCE principal Stephen Oswald Maluka signed the MoU.
Maluka expressed a desire for DUCE to become a hub for athletes with visual impairments at the signing ceremony.
The MoU will see students given the opportunity to take up baseball for the blind.
An introductory course designed to acquaint national governing bodies with baseball for the blind was added to the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Academy in November.
One month later, TaBSA officials were among a group to participate in the course.
It was designed by the Italian Baseball Association for the Blind (AIBxC), and is intended to allow federations to discover and develop the discipline.
The AIBxC is one of the world's leading baseball for the blind organisations and the top Italian league features 11 teams.
When the course was launched, the WBSC said the AIBxC planned to add further courses to the e-learning platform.
