The WBSC helped organise the webinar for officials in Benin

A baseball5 webinar has been held for coaches and officials in Benin as the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) continues its drive to develop the discipline across the globe.

The webinar, organised by the WBSC and the Africa Baseball Softball Association (ABSA), was attended by 43 participants.

"The course went very well," said ABSA President Saber Jlajla.

It was the latest event focused on the five-on-five simplified version of the game, which targets growth in new and emerging baseball and softball countries.

Earlier this month, the Egyptian Baseball and Softball Federation hosted its first Egyptian Rural Development Baseball5 Championship, before a webinar for coaches and officials in Burkina Faso was held by the WBSC and ABSA.

Representatives from Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia have all participated in previous WBSC webinars on baseball5.

The mixed-gender, urban-friendly discipline is set to feature at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

An international calendar which includes the first Baseball5 World Cup taking place in 2022 has also been confirmed.
