Italy's Marta Bassino will be looking to win her third giant slalom in a row and her fifth of the International Ski Federation Alpine Ski World Cup season at the one-day event in Kronplatz in Italy tomorrow.

Bassino has been the clear standout in the event this season, winning four of the five races so far and holding a lead over 100 points to her nearest rival, Switzerland's Michelle Gisin, in the race for the overall crystal globe with just three competitions to go.

The only race she failed to win came when she did not complete her second run in Courchevel in France, an event won by American Mikaela Shiffrin.

Shiffrin has missed large parts of the season, having recovered from injury, and has stated her intention to focus on events such as slalom and giant slalom.

Gisin and Bassino's compatriot Federica Brignone have both finished as runners-up to the event leader so far this season.

Slovakia's Petra Vlhová and France's Tessa Worley have also made the podium on multiple occasions and will look to keep their spot in the top five of the giant slalom World Cup standings.

Vlhová has a sizable gap at the top of the overall World Cup standings, ahead of Swiss pair Gisin and super-G leader Lara Gut-Behrami.

Bassino and downhill leader Sofia Goggia of Italy are also in the overall top five heading into Kronplatz.
