Chou Tien-chen, the top seeded player in the draw, earned a straight games 21-19, 21-16 victory over France’s Brice Leverdez.

The result saw Chou set-up an all-Chinese Taipei quarter-final with Wang Tzu-wei, who was a 21-13, 21-11 winner against Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong.

Denmark’s Anders Antonsen received a bye into the quarter-final stage of the competition, after India’s Srikanth Kidambi was forced to self-isolate after his roommate tested positive for COVID-19.

India’s Sameer Verma will face Antonsen in the last eight, after he earned a 21-12, 21-9 win over Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke.

Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark and Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu complete the quarter-final line-up.

Vittinghus battled to an 11-21, 21-15, 21-17 win over Indonesia’s Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, while Lee was a 21-19, 13-21, 21-12 winner against Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

The women’s singles competition saw Marin maintain her impressive form, with the reigning Olympic champion winning 21-19, 21-16 against Denmark’s Line Kjærsfeldt.

Marin will face Turkey’s Neslihan Yigit in the last eight, following her 21-19, 20-22, 21-14 victory over Germany’s Yvonne Li.

Tai Tzu-ying, who was beaten by Marin in last week’s final, also progressed to the last eight today.

The Chinese Taipei star and top seed recorded a 22-20, 21-16 win over Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Canada’s Michelle Li will be her quarter-final opponent, following her 21-17, 21-18 victory over the United States’ Iris Wang.

Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon and India’s PV Sindhu will meet in a high-profile quarter-final clash.

Intanon, the 2013 world champion, battled past South Korea’s Sung Ji-Hyun 19-21, 24-22, 21-17.

Reigning world champion Sindhu secured a comfortable 21-10, 21-12 win over Malaysia’s Kisona Selvadurary.

The quarter-final line-up is completed by South Korea’s An Se-young and Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong.

An overcame Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min 21-15, 21-7, while Chochuwong beat her Thailand team-mate Benyapa Aimsaard 21-18, 21-14.
