The coronavirus pandemic continues to impact the international sambo calendar, with this month's European Sambo Cup in Romania having to be postponed.

Junior men's and women's competition had been scheduled for between January 22 and 25 in Bucharest.

An under-24 combat sambo contest was also scheduled, as well as an accompanying training camp.

The event was postponed on Romanian Ministry of Health advice, and the European Sambo Federation is to provide an update at a later date regarding whether or not the European Sambo Cup can be re-arranged.

It was the first competition on the European Sambo Federation calendar for 2021.

The World Sambo Cup is the next tournament on the calendar, scheduled for Moscow in March.

The 2020 edition of the event had to be postponed as the global health crisis began to take hold, but eventually went ahead in December.

European Championships are planned for Lignano Sabbiadoro in Italy in May this year, with the junior event set for Cypriot city Limassol.

The European Sambo Federation remains hopeful both can go ahead.
