International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Football Committee has outlined its calendar through to 2024.

The IBSA Football Committee said it has been seeking to plan for the coming years, despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

This year is expected to see the Euro Challenge Cup in Stockholm during June and the World Grand Prix in Tokyo, with dates yet to be confirmed.

The main event of the year is scheduled to be the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, due to run from August 24 to September 5.

Bucharest is due to host the European Championships Division 2 event in October, while the inaugural Women’s World Championships is scheduled to take place in November and December at Enugu in Nigeria.

The IBSA plan to host five continental championships in 2022, with the calendar including the World Grand Prix and the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.

The annual World Grand Prix is also included on the early schedule for 2023, which is also due to feature the Parapan American Games in Santiago.

Birmingham is set to host the Men’s and Women’s Partially Sighted World Championships in 2023.

"In special times like these we need to respond appropriately to the coronavirus," said Ulrich Pfisterer, IBSA Football Committee chair.

"We hereby present to our blind football community a concise, modified competition calendar, leading to the Paralympics in Paris in 2024.

"I am also excited to see the very first IBSA Women's Blind Football World Championships, an event which had to be postponed to 2021.

"As it works out, this delay may become an advantage, giving emerging countries more time to prepare.

"We are also happy to see the Division 2 European Championships becoming an integral event on our calendar.

"With this modified competition schedule until 2024, the blind football community can now plan budgets and programmes.

"I am sure they were eagerly awaiting this information."
