The United States' Jessica Diggins and Russia's Alexander Bolshunov, were crowned pursuit winners on the final day in Val Müstair in Switzerland, as the first three legs of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Tour de Ski were completed.

In the women's 10 kilometre pursuit, Diggins bettered her compatriot Rosie Brennan, finishing 5.6 seconds ahead of her to win the gold medal and claim her seventh FIS Cross-Country World Cup victory.

Brennan made it on to the podium for a fourth time, while Sweden's Frida Karlsson won the bronze, 10.7 behind Diggins.

Slovenia's Anamarija Lampič was the closest competitor off the podium, but was nearly a minute off the pace of Diggins in fourth, while Russia's Yulia Stupak finished fifth. 

Swedish sprint skier Linn Svahn finished sixth with Tatiana Sorina of Russia, Nadine Fähndrich of Switzerland, Katharina Hennig of Germany and Krista Parmakoski of Finland completing the top 10.

In the men's event, reigning World Cup champion Bolshunov claimed gold, leading a contingent of Russians in the top five.

More than 50 seconds behind him was Russian Artem Maltsev, winning the silver medal ahead of Maurice Manificat of France, who won bronze.

Maltsev's silver was his second podium of the season, while Manificat made it on to the podium for the first time on his 32nd appearance.

Denis Spitsov was close to making it an all-Russian podium, but finished three seconds behind the Frenchman in fourth.

Ivan Yakimushkin made it a fourth Russian in the top five, just ahead of Dario Cologna of Switzerland in sixth.

Clement Parisse of France and Federico Pellegrino of Italy finished seventh and eighth while two more Frenchmen, Jean Marc Gaillard and Adrien Backscheider rounded off the top 10.

The next two stages of the Tour de Ski are scheduled to take place in Toblach in Italy on January 5 and 6, followed by three days in Val di Fiemme in Italy, with the event set to conclude on January 10.
