The number of participants at the Sud de France Nimes Archery Tournament has been restricted after local authorities approved health protocols for the event.

Competition will only be open to 64 archers in the four primary categories - recurve men, recurve women, compound men and compound women.

Every participant at the tournament, scheduled to take place between January 29 and 31, will have to had either returned a negative PCR test for COVID-19 within 72 hours of their arrival or provided a certificate of vaccination to be eligible to compete.

The number of archers shooting at any one time will also be heavily restricted as part of the measures, designed to reduce the risk of infection.

The Sud de France Nimes Archery Tournament was initially due to take place from January 15 to 17 before it was pushed back by two weeks after the French Government extended pandemic-related restrictions on sporting events.

It had been scheduled to form part of the remote 2021 Indoor Archery World Series but will now act as a bonus stage following the delay, which meant the event was out of sync with the dates for the circuit.

Events which form part of the series are typically open to all archers.

Those who can no longer participate because of the health protocols have been offered a refund on their entry fee.
