Ukraine and Croatia each won seven medals as the boys' cadet contests were held at taekwondo's European Championships in Sarajevo.

Having won two gold medals, two silver and three bronze, Ukraine lead the medals table.

Maksym Manenkov, in the under-37-kilogram class, and Daniil Maydaniuk, in the under-49kg, earned gold medals for Ukraine.

Host nation Bosnia and Herzegovina also won two titles.


Benjamin Husic at under-53kg and Fahrudin Adilovic at under-57kg were the home heroes.

Athletes from Croatia, Norway, Poland, Germany, Israel and Estonia also won European cadet crowns.

Seventeen nations won medals in all, with girls' cadet contests set to follow in Sarajevo tomorrow.

Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina vice-president Izet Rađo was among the spectators at the competition today.
