World Archery has announced that the Sud de France Nimes Archery Tournament has been postponed by two weeks after the French Government extended pandemic related restrictions on sporting events.

The tournament had been scheduled to take place from January 15 to 17.

The postponement will now see the event held from January 29 to 31.

World Archery said the postponement means the Nimes Archery Tournament is now taken out of sync with the online stages of the 2021 Indoor Archery World Series.

The competition had been due to coincide with the third stage of the event.

World Archery say the competition will now act as a "bonus stage" for the open and team rankings.

The scores of archers who participate in the competition will be automatically submitted to the series.

There will be no corresponding online event held on the new weekend.

The third stage of the Indoor Archery World Series will remain as initially scheduled, with competition held on January 15 to 17.

World Archery expect a live event will be held at the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne on the same weekend.

The first Indoor Archery World Series event was held earlier this month, with the second stage due to take place from December 19 to 20.

The fourth and final event will coincide with the Vegas Shoot in the United States, which will be held from February 10 to 14.

More than 2,800 athletes competed in the first event of the Indoor Archery World Series.

Archers were able to shoot at their clubs, in local tournaments or from home ranges.

Scores were submitted in three time zones, with one zone for Asia and Oceania, one for Europe and Africa and the final zone for the Americas.

World Archery announced more than 2,000 people have signed up to participate in the second leg of the series.
