Israel's Linoy Ashram has won gold in the individual all-around event, claiming the final title of the 2020 European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Kyiv in Ukraine.

After four disciplines - hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon - Ashram was level with Belarus' Alina Harnasko with a score of 100.900.

However, Ashram took victory thanks to her superior execution scores, her best being a 9.300 in the hoop.

The hoop would be the only individual event Ashram would win, finishing runner-up in the ball and clubs disciplines and failing to receive a high execution score in the ribbon, dropping her to third.

Harnasko would win the other three events, but was kept honest by the Israeli throughout the competition.

A second Belarusian made the podium with Harnasko as Anastasiia Salos won bronze after strong performances in the hoop and clubs.

Despite fifth place finishes in the ball and ribbon events, Salos did enough with a score of 96.500 to place third ahead of Bulgaria's Boryana Kaleyn and Nicol Zelikman of Israel in fourth and fifth.

Ukraine's Yeva Meleshchuk, Bulgaria's Katrin Taseva, Ukraine's Vlada Nikolchenko, Azerbaijan's Zohra Aghamirova and Romania's Andreea Verdes completed the top 10 in the standings.

Ashram also won the SmartScoring Shooting Star award, annually given out at the conclusion of the Championships.

At 21, she is the first Israeli to win an individual all-around medal at a World Championships as well as the first to win an all-around World Cup and Grand Prix gold.

She also hopes to be the first Israeli rhythmic gymnast to win an Olympic medal at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8 2021.
