The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has postponed two Pro League matches due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Strict travel restrictions have been re-implemented across Europe as cases of coronavirus rise across the continent.

The FIH has subsequently postponed two Pro League games at the request of the teams involved.

This includes two matches between Britain and Germany's men and women's teams, originally scheduled for November 14 and 15.

Two women's matches between China and Belgium on January 23 and 24 have also been postponed.

FIH is set to continue monitoring the evolution of the global health situation and find new dates for these matches when it is possible to do so.

"While it’s always a pity to have to take such decisions, we fully understand the situation and this is the most appropriate course of action to date," said FIH chief executive Thierry Weil.

"We do hope that the global health situation will improve soon and our thoughts are with all those who are affected at the moment.

"We’re looking forward to enjoying international hockey matches next year again."

Around a third of this season's FIH Pro League had been completed before the coronavirus pandemic brought it to a halt, with the last matches played on March 7.

Competition then resumed in September, but teams outside of Europe such as Australia, Argentina and China, are yet to play.

The Pro League campaign has been extended to June 2021 to cater for the delay caused by the global health crisis.
