With the 2020 eSailing season reaching its peak over the next two months, the pla-offs are set to precede the World Championship, currently scheduled for November.

Whoever wins the 2020 eSailing World Championship will receive a cheque for $10,000 (£7,800/€8,600) from the competition's partner, Virtual Regatta.

A total of 1,000 eSailors have qualified for the playoffs based on their world ranking.

The playoffs are scheduled to take place from tomorrow until October 3. 

The first of three locations will be Auckland in New Zealand for players in the J70 ship class over the first two days.

On October 1 and 2 there is due to be a move to San Francisco in the United States in the F50, before a laser event in Marseille in France on October 2 and 3.

Those not playing are able to watch the competition live in "spectator mode" through a Virtual Regatta Inshore stream on its website.

The top 10 players going into the playoffs have also been revealed, headed by "GRE-9" of Greece.

Elsewhere, a total of six nations are represented at the top of the rankings, with the others being France, Italy, Britain, Spain and the US.

France and Italy are the only nations to have multiple players in the top 10 – both having three players.

The eight best players from the playoffs will compete for the eSailing World Championship title alongside Britain's "Déjà vu", the first eSail Grand Prix champion and the first player to confirm his place in the final.

The first eSailing Nations Cup is due to start on October 5, shortly after the playoffs on Virtual Regatta Inshore.

Teams of 10 will compete in a series of regattas, in nation-to-nation knock-out challenges, throughout October until the final on November 7.
