Eurofins has been named the official testing partner of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour.

Eurofins, which claims to be the world leader in clinical diagnostics, forensic, pharmaceutical, food and environmental laboratory testing services, is set to aid the Tour's continued safe return to play.

The partnership is expected to run until 2021 and will ensure the LPGA has an easy, fast and reliable COVID-19 testing programme.

"The health and safety of our athletes, caddies, staff and tournament partners is always our number one priority, and it was very important for us to find a global testing partner that would help fit our needs in the United States and internationally," said LPGA chief tour operations officer Heather Daly-Donofrio.

"As a world-wide leader in bio-analysis, Eurofins is a perfect match for our global Tour and schedule.

"We are excited to welcome Eurofins to the LPGA family as we work to maintain a safe and healthy tournament environment each week on Tour."

Players, caddies, staff and essential personnel will take self-administered, mid-nasal polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests at an on-site testing location upon arrival at tournaments.

An on-site team will monitor sample collection at each tournament and provide results within 24 to 48 hours.

Only four LPGA Tour events were completed in the 2020 season before the global health crisis took hold.

Thirteen tournaments were subsequently cancelled, including a major, the Evian Championship in France.

Competition resumed between July 31 and August 2 with the LPGA Drive On Championship in Ohio, which was followed by the Marathon Classic from August 6 to 9.

The Women's British Open was successfully held from August 20 to 23, followed by the ANA Inspiration from September 10 to 13.

The Women's PGA Championship is scheduled for October 8 to 11, with the US Women's Open set to be from December 10 to 13.
