The two officials were chosen for the positions during the SNOC's Annual General Meeting, held virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Seow, President of Fencing Singapore, and Singapore Bowling head Phua join Milan Kwee and Benedict Tan as vice-presidents of the SNOC.

Phua successfully retained her seat, while Seow will take over a role vacated by Tan Eng Liang, who stood down after 28 years.

Former Singapore Sepak Takraw President Abdul Halim Kader was the other official in contention.

Phua and Seow will serve until 2024, with Kwee and Tan's terms due to come to an end at the 2022 AGM.

"Whatever position I’m in, I’ll always want to contribute and make sport a better place," said Seow.

"I’ve been an athlete and a coach, so I know what it feels like and I hope with my experience, I can empathise with every situation and find a win-win solution."

SNOC President Tan Chuan-Jin paid tribute to Tan, who decided not to seek re-election.

"Dr Tan has been a dedicated and selfless servant to sport in Singapore," he said.

"He passionately cares about our sports and athletes, and he is irreplaceable for what he brings to the table. 

"We thank him for the decades that he has poured into sport, and wish him a happy retirement."
