Student-athlete Yongwoo Lee said he was "one step closer to my dream" after being selected for the Master of Sport Administration course at the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU).

The South Korean was the International University Sports Federation (FISU) candidate for the scholarship.

The course features modules in governance, marketing, sports tourism and venue management.

FISU and RIOU, based in Sochi, support one scholarship to this course every year.

Candidates to receive the scholarship must have a a higher-education diploma and a working knowledge of English, given this is the language lectures are conducted in.

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to study at RIOU," said Lee.

"I have always dreamt of working in an international sports organisation, but it was difficult to gain expertise and build my career in this field.

"When I heard about RIOU’s Master of Sport Administration programme, I instantly knew that this was the perfect opportunity for me because RIOU provides expert professors, wonderful educational environment, and internship opportunities.

"When I heard that I was one of the FISU-RIOU scholarship recipients I felt like I was one step closer to my dream.

"This is a big step in my sports career."
