Hannah Cockcroft_bt_07-12-11December 6 - BT has added double world champion Hannah Cockroft to its ambassadorial team of leading sportsmen and women for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.


The 19-year-old wheelchair racer will help the Tier London 2012 partner and title sponsor of the BT Paralympic World Cup raise awareness of disability sport, and said: "It's amazing what BT is doing for the Paralympic Games, I'm so pleased to be a part of the team.

"The support I've received from BT is so important to me, and will help make training and preparation for my races much easier."

Cockroft will be making her Paralympic Games debut next summer, and the teenager has already broken world records in the 100 metres, 200m, 400m and 800m.

Cockroft, who won both the T34 100m and 200m in Christchurch at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Championships at the start of this year, will join fewllow Paralyampians swimmer Liz Johnson, javelin thrower Nathan Stephens, dressage's Lee Pearson and sprinters Jonnie Peacock and Oscar Pistorius on the BT team.

BT is supporting the athletes financially and by helping them stay in touch friends, family and coaches through phone and broadband services.

BT marketing and brand director Suzi Williams said: "BT has always been a strong supporter of Paralympic sport and we're delighted to be championing one of our brightest stars for the London 2012 Games.

"Hannah has a great chance of winning gold next year, and we're proud to be helping her achieve that goal."
