All ice rinks set to be used at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing will be ready for ice production by the end of the year, local officials have claimed.

The Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters Office also revealed 12 out of 15 ice rinks have been completed and the installation of the ice production equipment has started, China's official state news agency Xinhua reported.

Venues such as the "Ice Jar", the training centre which holds two international standard ice rinks for both short track speed skating and curling, and Wukesong Sports Centre, which will be used for ice hockey, will feature at Beijing 2022. 

The Capital Indoor Stadium, set to host figure skating and short track speed skating during the Games, is scheduled to hold two test events later this year - the International Skating Union Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and the Speed Skating World Cup, both of which are due to take place in December.

Preparations for Beijing 2022 are reportedly on track, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which originated in China. 

There are 13 venues planned in total in the Beijing competition zone, with 10 venues set to be completed by the end of the year. 

Renovation of the National Stadium, also known as the "Bird's Nest" and used for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games, is set to be completed in 2021. 

The Shougang Ski Jumping platform, located next to the Beijing 2022 headquarters, was completed in October 2019 and has already hosted international events.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics are due to run from February 4 to 20, with the Paralympics following from March 4 to 13.
